December 4, 2015 – Columbian Financial Group is pleased to announce the promotion of Michael Fosbury to the position of President effective January 1, 2016. Thomas E. Rattmann, Columbian’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, indicated that along with this promotion, Michael has also been elected to Columbian’s Board of Directors.
Michael joined Columbian in 2003 as Vice President, Investments and Chief Investment Officer. After his arrival, he became involved in other parts of the company’s operations, including Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, and Information Technology. He was promoted to Senior Vice President, Investments in 2009; to Executive Vice President in 2013; and to the position of Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer & Chief Operating Officer in 2014. Michael received his BBA from the University of Tennessee in 1980 and his MBA from the University of Louisville in 1998. He is a director on the boards of the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce, Greater Binghamton Education Outreach Program, and Baden-Powell Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Columbian is also pleased to announce the promotion of Dale Spencer to Chief Investment Officer effective January 1, 2016. Dale started in the Investment Department in 2009 as the Bond Portfolio Manager and has assumed growing responsibilities ever since. Most recently, he successfully executed a major restructuring strategy for Columbian’s investment portfolio to better position Columbian in the current low interest rate environment. Dale is a native of the Southern Tier where he graduated from Binghamton High School. He received his BS in Finance from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1990. His 25 years of experience in the investment industry is a true asset to Columbian. Dale is also a member of the Finance and Endowment Fund Committee at Fairview United Methodist Church.
